BANGALORE: Ittiam Systems is a hard company to fathom. IT industry veterans in Bangalore know about the company founders, its business model, area of expertise and investors. But they know precious little about its business performance or revenues.
Ittiam is 10 years old and yet got only $12 million in revenues last year. But in the last five years, Ittiam has received 30 US patents –with 30 more applications pending — more than twice as much as the next highest among the Indian IT companies, Infosys. Why does such a small company need so many patents?
